Light Fast Stain vs Scandi Wood Stain
Light Fast Stain is Morrells' broadest range, an alcohol-based, fast-drying stain formulated for grain definition and colour fading resistance, covering the bulk of traditional wood tones, oak, mahogany, pine, walnut, rosewood, in both 1L and 5L sizes. Scandi Wood Stain is a more recent, smaller collection built around Nordic design, mixing classic wood shades with contemporary pigmented colours, all lightfast. Both perform similarly in application, so the real choice is usually about which specific shade you're after rather than the formulation itself.

One line worth knowing about specifically: White Classique Fast Stain isn't only a stain, it can also be used to tint Morrells' own Precatalyst and Acid Catalyst lacquers by up to 5% by volume, giving a way to introduce subtle colour into the topcoat itself rather than staining the bare wood.
Fillers within the Morrells range
Alongside the stains, Morrells also supplies wood floor fillers, including Induro Mix & Fill resin filler and hard and soft wax filler sticks. These aren't part of the stain system, they're for repairing gaps and damage, and the choice between resin and wax stick follows the same logic covered on our floor and wood fillers page: resin for gaps during a sanding job, wax sticks for spot repairs on a finished floor.
FAQ
Can I mix Light Fast Stain with Scandi Wood Stain? This isn't something Morrells specify as intended use, so it's best to stay within one range rather than mixing the two formulations, particularly since they may behave differently in terms of drying time and lightfastness.
What does "non-grain raising" mean for these stains? It means the stain doesn't cause the wood fibres to swell and roughen the surface as it dries, which would otherwise require an extra sanding pass before finishing. This keeps the process quicker and the final surface smoother.
Can White Classique Fast Stain be used as a normal stain, not just a lacquer tint? Yes, it works as a standalone stain in the usual way. Its ability to also tint Morrells lacquers is an additional use, not a restriction on using it conventionally.
